De Advieswinkel: Advice service for practical guidance

Advieswinkel on tour: february and march

In february and march we will provide our survice in different locations in Amsterdam. You can make an appointment via our website or just come by!

What is ‘De Advieswinkel,’ literally translated as ‘The Advisory Store’?

Founded in 2014, ‘De Advieswinkel’ fills a major gap in the information and help available to people who are struggling with their mental and emotional wellbeing. We provide face-to-face support (for ages 8+) by advanced Psychology students who provide a listening ear and offer practical solutions to help you get back on track. We offer a safe, supportive, non-judgemental and informative environment for people to talk about their mental health. At De Advieswinkel you can talk about your problems or questions relating to mental health and wellbeing in confidence, free of charge and anonymously.

We can provide support if you’re experiencing changes in thoughts, feelings and/or behaviour or if you’ve just not been feeling yourself lately. Possible complaints can be stress, relationship difficulties, feeling lonely or down, sleeping problems or a grieving process you might be going through after sickness or loss of a loved one. It’s also possible that you are concerned about a friend’s or family member’s mental health and you would like to receive guidance with regard to dealing with the situation. You name it and we are here to listen and to help!

During a single session you can expect our students to empathize with you and show understanding for your question or concerns. Our students receive on-going training from experienced mental health care psychologists to ensure a high quality service. Alongside practical guidance and advice, we will provide you with general information about psychological problems (mental health issues) and the mental health care system in the Netherlands. We can refer you to a range of initiatives in our network for further support. You are also welcome to return to our service for extra sessions.

We understand that confidentiality is essential as people who use our service may share rather personal problems. Our Psychology students have signed a confidentiality agreement so you can be assured that the information exchanged during a session will be treated confidentially. As we don’t charge a fee from your health insurance, there is no need to register your personal information, ensuring that you stay anonymous.
